1 supported project

Children of Slovakia Foundation

Young Community Leaders

Grant amount: 299 613

The Foundation for Children of Slovakia has been working with young people for a long time.
Thanks to the project, the organisation was able to give a group of 75 young people just such an experience. The project taught young community leaders through comprehensive training to map the needs of the community, communicate with the public, cooperate with partners and local government, implement community projects – from their creation, through management, project management and teamwork, to their evaluation and accounting. Throughout the programme, young people also developed their life skills and leadership skills. Together with 14 mentors, who provided more than 4 100 mentoring hours, they managed to successfully implement 61 local community projects. The projects covered a variety of areas – they focused on community development, environmental protection, education, restoration of public spaces or culture.

What did the projects achieve?
For example: to create several nature trails, to build an online quiz library, to develop a methodology for teaching using 3D printers, to build several workout and playgrounds for children or to organise an urban art festival.
Thanks to well-implemented community projects, more than 4,000 participants have been involved in the project.
