On October 6 and 7, 2022, the international conference Inclusive Education in the Times of Rising Exclusion took place in Bratislava’s Lindner Hotel Gallery Central. The conference was held as part of the Regional Civil Society Initiatives of the Active Citizens Fund Slovakia programme in cooperation with the Children of Slovakia Foundation. The international partners were the Open Society Fund Prague from the Czech Republic, the Open Society Institute – Sofia from Bulgaria and The European Wergeland Center (EWC) from Oslo, Norway.

The goal of the conference was to point out the fact that the current education system in Slovakia still does not meet the needs of all children and at the same time to discuss what should be done to get closer to the desired state. The approaches of foreign and Slovak partners inspired more than 70 representatives of institutions from the education sector and non-governmental organizations to further work towards a more inclusive society.

In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the study “Human rights in Slovak and Norwegian schools, Children views”, presented by Elena Gallová Kriglerová. The analysis was created in cooperation between the Center for Research of Ethnicity and Culture and the University of South-eastern Norway with the support of the bilateral fund Active Citizens Fund Slovakia.
